Must read

On August 12, 2024, Pakistan experienced a significant event with the arrest of Lieutenant-General Faiz Hameed, the former Chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

This marks an unprecedented occurrence, as Hameed, who once led Pakistan’s most influential intelligence agency, is now the first former ISI chief to face arrest and court martial proceedings.

The charges against him are severe, including his alleged involvement in the Top City housing scheme scandal during his tenure, as well as breaches of the Pakistan Army Act following his retirement—issues highlighted by a recent Supreme Court of Pakistan ruling.

This development is expected to have major repercussions for both Pakistan’s military and political spheres.
