Mithun Chakraborty on Working with Vivek Agnihotri and His Son in The Delhi File
Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty will play a pivotal role in Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming drama, The Delhi File: The Bengal Chapter. During a recent interaction with the media, Mithun spoke about his working relationship with Agnihotri, describing their strong understanding and camaraderie.
“I’ve done two films with Vivek Agnihotri so far—The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. We share the same mental wavelength. He understands me, and I understand him. When explaining a shot, he just tells me the scene and says, ‘Now you understand,’ and he’s confident I’ll deliver. That’s the kind of bond we have,” Mithun said, adding, “I think he’s one of the finest directors in India today, with subjects so compelling that you can’t say no.”
The film also marks the first time Mithun will appear alongside his son, Namashi Chakraborty, in a full-fledged movie. However, the father-son duo does not share any scenes in the film. “I had a small dance cameo in Namashi’s film Bad Boy, but this is the first time we are working on the same project. That said, we don’t share a single shot in this film,” Mithun shared.
Namashi explained the reason behind their lack of shared screen time, saying, “The story alternates between different eras, so dad’s scenes are set in a different timeline from mine. Initially, I couldn’t believe Vivek sir entrusted me with such an intense role. But his confidence, along with dad’s belief in me, helped me deliver. The Delhi File has been my finest experience so far.”
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri and co-produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, The Delhi File: The Bengal Chapter is presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal and I Am Buddha Productions. The highly-anticipated film is set to release on August 15th this year.
