Madeleine McCann suspect Christian B may never be charged with case ‘doomed’

Authorities may never charge Christian B, the suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, as it is believed that the case is destined for failure.

Authorities investigating the Madeleine McCann case may face difficulties in charging the suspect Christian B due to an ongoing “legal row.”

Prosecutors from two different regions in Germany, Braunschweig and Saxony-Anhalt, are at odds regarding jurisdiction over the jailed suspect.

There is a possibility that the case could be taken away from the Braunschweig prosecutors and transferred to the team in Saxony-Anhalt.

The transfer of control of the investigation to Magdeburg’s public prosecutor’s office is being considered.

If this happens, it could potentially result in a bleak outcome for the Maddie case, which dates back to May 2007 when she disappeared during a holiday in Praia da Luz, Algarve, Portugal, at the age of three.

In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Christian B’s lawyer, Friedrich Fulscher, stated that his actions were not aimed at stripping the case away from the public prosecution office in Braunschweig.

He explained that his role is solely focused on ensuring compliance with procedural law for the accused.

He further asserted that, based on his examinations and confirmation from the Braunschweig district court, the public prosecution office of Braunschweig is not legally responsible for this particular jurisdiction.

Additionally, an unnamed source informed the national newspaper that transferring the McCann case to Saxony-Anhalt would be a significant victory for Christian B’s legal team.

The German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters, leading the investigation in Braunschweig, has made significant advancements compared to other authorities. He claims to possess solid evidence implicating Christian B in the murder of Madeleine. Despite facing resistance, Wolters remains determined to press charges against Christian B and is opposing any attempts to dismiss the case. However, the final decision may not be within his control.

Earlier this month, Gerry and Kate McCann, the parents of Madeleine, along with their loved ones, attended a vigil to commemorate the 16th anniversary since her disappearance in Portugal. Madeleine, who was three years old at the time, went missing from her parents’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.
