Experts Highlight the Benefits of Lab-Grown Diamonds, Emphasize Government Support

Renowned actress and Bigg Boss Season 14 winner Rubina Dilaik inaugurated the first large-format lab-grown diamond jewellery outlet, Kultivate Karats, in the tricity. Situated at NAC, Manimajra, Sector 13, Chandigarh, the dazzling store showcases an array of exquisite jewellery crafted from lab-grown diamonds. Rubina explored the collection during the event, trying on some of the unique pieces.

The brand Kultivate Karats is the brainchild of Bengaluru-based Kubix Jewels LLP, which has partnered with Chandigarh’s Deepak Gupta, a prominent jewellery entrepreneur, to bring this outlet to life.

Sampath Jain, Co-founder of Kubix Jewels, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re delighted to launch our first outlet in Chandigarh through this joint venture. The store caters to the growing demand for eco-friendly, lab-grown diamonds, offering customers premium-quality jewellery at competitive prices.”

The event also featured an informative session led by experts in the lab-grown diamond industry. They explained that lab-grown diamonds are a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to natural diamonds. Unlike mined diamonds, which incur significant expenses due to importation and mining processes, lab-grown diamonds are developed in controlled laboratory settings, drastically reducing costs.

Experts further elaborated that the sustainable production of lab-grown diamonds avoids the ecological damage associated with traditional diamond mining. By using advanced technology, these diamonds replicate the chemical and physical properties of natural ones without the adverse environmental impact.

Co-founder of Kubix Jewels, Mehek Jain, highlighted, “Lab-grown diamonds are manufactured under controlled conditions in laboratories and factories, making them indistinguishable from natural diamonds in terms of chemical and physical characteristics.”

Deepak Gupta, Partner at Kultivate Karats, emphasized the affordability, stating, “Lab-grown diamonds are nearly 80% cheaper than natural diamonds.” He added, “Our store offers an extensive range of jewellery, including rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and solitaires. Customers can explore over 400 products, with prices starting at just ₹15,000. We are also proud to introduce lab-grown uncut (Polki) diamond jewellery.”

Industry experts also noted that lab-grown diamonds receive the same certifications as natural diamonds, including those from leading authorities such as the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA), International Gemological Institute (IGI), and Solitaire Gemmological Laboratories (SGL). Additionally, hallmarking standards for lab-grown diamond jewellery align with those of natural diamonds.

The Government of India is actively encouraging the lab-grown diamond sector, recognizing its potential to position India as a leading exporter. Mehek Jain pointed out, “Promoting lab-grown diamonds will help conserve foreign exchange. Unlike natural diamonds that are imported and processed domestically, lab-grown diamonds are entirely produced in India, offering significant employment opportunities.”

The launch of Kultivate Karats marks a significant milestone in the jewellery industry, showcasing the future of sustainable luxury.
