A three-day Art and Craft Exhibition, being held from Friday until January 11, 2026, at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh, has introduced the city’s art lovers to the vibrancy of contemporary creativity. Organised by Kala Fusion in collaboration with Social Substance, the exhibition features participation from more than 50 artists, who are offering visitors a rich visual experience through their distinctive artistic expressions.
The Art and Craft Exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ravinder Sharma, a renowned artist, art historian, and art educationist and Vice Chairman of the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi. The exhibition was graced by Reena Chopra, a popular writer, blogger, and artist, as the Guest of Honour, while the Special Guest was Gurdeep Dhiman, a noted visual photographer and President of the Punjab Lalit Kala Academy, whose presence added dignity to the event.
This live arts event witnessed impressive creative presentations by eminent artists such as Neha Bhalla Sood, Pooja Garg, Rohan Riaou, Kirpal Osahan, Manisha Bhatnagar, Dr. Meghna Walia, Ritu Sondh, Rameeta Chawla, Naina Sharma, Anuradha Sagar, Morpheus Nag, Shreya (Ina), Ishita, Sonam Sharma, Fiza Arora, Sonia Dogra, Megha Saxena, Anulekha Singh, Manju, Reena Chopra, Maneet Kaur, Smriti Goyal, Isha Dhiman, Dr. Simranjot Kaur, Arshleen Kaur, Neha Kansal, Tavleen Kaur, Manish Kumar Meena, Yogita Chauhan, Guneet Kaur, Priya Sharma, Neha Kaushik, Amrita Kalra, Meenakshi Thukral, Prachi Minhas, Pallavi, Udham Singh Brar, Arun Bansal, Puneet Madan, Jasbir Kaur, Rita Sikand, Harsharanjit Singh, Bachittar Singh, Dr. Pushpindar Kaur, Rita Toor, Dr. Suneet, Master Mahee Govind Singh, Maheena, Soni, Srishti, Surendra Kaur Gill, and Surender Kumar, among others.
The exhibition showcased a wide range of art forms and techniques. Through acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings, artists beautifully expressed emotions and vibrant color palettes. Digital artworks, mini canvas paintings, and alcohol ink art reflected modern sensibilities and experimental approaches. Sculpture and three-dimensional artworks captured viewers’ attention, while resin art, coasters, and candle art transformed everyday objects into aesthetic creations.
Alongside these, crochet art, Lippan art, mandala art, painted stones, painted bottles, and painted planters presented traditional and folk art forms through a contemporary lens. Mini planters and handmade décor art highlighted a harmonious blend of nature and creativity, creating an engaging confluence of handicrafts and fine art within the exhibition.
According to exhibition organiser Neha Bhalla Sood, a committed artist with a deep passion for art, creativity serves as a form of meditation and stress relief for her. She is known for transforming everyday objects such as glass bottles, kulhads (earthen cups), stones, wood, and ceramics into works of art. Experimentation beyond canvas and paper, using unconventional surfaces and materials, is a defining feature of her artistic practice. She shared that the collaboration between Kala Fusion and Social Substance went beyond mere exhibition, evolving into a powerful platform for creative dialogue, social awareness, and cultural engagement.
Co-organiser Rohan Riaou, a contemporary visual artist and filmmaker, described the exhibition as a celebration of creative freedom and spontaneous expression. He explained that just as his own art organically takes shape through emotions, movement, and inspiration from nature, this platform too allows artists to express themselves without constraints. Deeply influenced by nature and wildlife, Rohan noted that the exhibition became a shared space for both emerging and established artists to connect with audiences and further strengthen their artistic identities.
Meanwhile, co-organiser Pooja Garg, a Chandigarh-based multidisciplinary artist working across oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and mixed media, stated that the exhibition was dedicated to artistic diversity and freedom of expression. She emphasized that every artist has a unique perspective, style, and story, and this platform enabled those stories to be presented with honesty and sensitivity. According to her, the artworks on display reflected unspoken and profound human emotions, encouraging viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with themselves.
Neha further added that the event proved to be more than just an art exhibition—it emerged as a meaningful initiative fostering dialogue between artists, audiences, and society, offering equal opportunities for both emerging and established artists to grow and expand their creative identities.
During the exhibition, which runs until January 11, interactive sessions, artist interactions, and guided walkthroughs are providing audiences, students, and art researchers valuable opportunities to learn, engage, and gain deeper insights into contemporary art practices.
