Punjab International Trade Expo 2023 begins in Amritsar kicks off today

Amritsar, 6 December. The 17th Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX), being organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Punjab Government, not only provides strength to the businessmen of Punjab but the event also promotes tourism in Punjab.
The above views were expressed by Amritsar Additional Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh while talking to journalists at the event today.
He said that it is the endeavor of the Punjab Government to make the prosperous province Rangla Punjab. For which it is very important to promote industry, tourism development and business.
Amritsar is a special tourist destination not only for Punjab but for the people living all over the world. Thanks to businessmen from different countries coming to PITEX the last 16 years, this five-day event has now created its own identity across seven seas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the people of Amritsar and surrounding districts wait for PITEX with great eagerness. Where they will get different products under one roof and the graph of Amritsar will also increase in the field of industry. This program is being hosted by the Punjab Government.

Sachdeva Chair of Punjab State Chapter of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that on December 7 Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Anmol Gagan Mann will formally inaugurate the 17th PITEX 2023 by participating as the chief guest. Meanwhile, in the evening, Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergill will come to PITEX and meet businessmen and city residents.
On December 8, PITEX will be dedicated to tourism in Punjab. On this day, a seminar on the topic ‘Industry Roundtable on Border and Heritage Tourism’ is being organized in the morning session. Fiji’s High Commissioner Nilesh Roneel Kumar, Kyrgyz’s Ambassador Ackap Askar Beshimov, Bangladesh’s High Commissioner Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman, Uzbekistan’s Trade Economic Counselor Khurshidbek Samiev, Indonesia’s Trade Attache Bona Kusuma are specially arriving in this session.
Export Conclave is being organized in the evening session on the same day. In which Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO will participate as the chief guest. Many officials of Punjab and Central Government are specially participating in this conclave.
R.S. sachdeva said that PHDCCI is incresing helping hand to the community and organising a blood donation camp for the first time on 9 and 10 dec during the PITEX.
Similarly, on the evening of December 9 women entrepreneurs who have been continuously participating in PITEX for the last ten years will be honored by the Women’s Wing of PHDCCI SHE Forum.
The book, “Punjab The Emerging Economy” will also release on 10 Dec by the PHDCCI throughout the PITEX trade. Speaking on the occasion Naveen Sethi Deputy Secretary General of PHD Chamber of Commerce said that about 550 Exhibitors from across the country are participating in PITEX.
He told that this time businessmen from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Thailand and Turkey have arrived with their products. In India, the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Union Territory of Ladakh are participating. Seth said that apart from many renowned industries of Punjab, SIDBI, National Jute Board, Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotional Organization, KVIC, NABARD, Textile Manufacturers Association of India, Shawl Club, Ministry of MSME are participating.
He said that on behalf of the Punjab Government, MARKFED, MILKFED, PEDA, Amritsar Development Authority, Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Corporation, Punjab Tourism Department, Punjab Agro Industry Corporation, Punjab Small Industry and Export Corporation are participating in PITEX this time.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharti Sood Regional Director PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that when PITEX was started in Amritsar in the year 2005, about 150 businessmen had participated and only 50 thousand people visited here.
Last year about 2.60 lakh people visited here. This number is expected to increase this time. On this occasion, many dignitaries including PHDCCI Punjab state Chapter Co-Chair Karan Gilhotra, Sanjeev singh Sethi, local convenor Jaideep Singh, local convenor of SHE Forum and many were present.
