34 matches marks the opening day of Gully Cricket Tournament

The Gully Cricket Tournament, jointly organized by the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) and Chandigarh Police, began on a high-energy note with as many as 34 matches played on the opening day across various venues in the city.

The first stage witnessed enthusiastic participation from young cricketers, with teams competing fiercely in a ten-a-side overs format. Among notable results, Team No. 168 defeated Team No. 167 by 46 runs, while Team No. 2 outclassed Team No. 1 by nine wickets. Team No. 230 secured a convincing 64-run win over Team No. 229, and Team No. 198 registered a nine-wicket victory against Team No. 197.

Team No. 165, Team No. 226, Team No. 99 and Team No. 227 were among those who recorded comfortable nine-wicket wins. Big-margin victories were also seen as Team No. 39 thrashed Team No. 40 by 103 runs, and Team No. 104 beat Team No. 103 by 97 runs. Team No. 163 (80 runs), Team No. 38 (63 runs), Team No. 133 (56 runs), and Team No. 8 (54 runs) also posted commanding wins. Some matches went down to the wire, with Team No. 70 edging past Team No. 69 by just five runs, while Team No. 200 defeated Team No. 199 by three wickets.

Team No. 101, Team No. 72, and Team No. 162 also registered hard-fought wins. In other matches, Teams No. 4, 33, 36, 97, 193, 65, 129, 131, 67, and 195 emerged victorious in their respective fixtures, showcasing strong all-round performances.

In the girls’ section, Team No. 1 defeated Team No. 2 by 57 runs, while Team No. 4 beat Team No. 3 convincingly by nine wickets.
