Additionally, PM Modi will virtually initiate the Shinkun La Tunnel Project, a 4.1 km twin-tube tunnel at an altitude of 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha Road, which will provide all-weather connectivity to Leh and, once completed, become the highest tunnel in the world.

This project is expected to enhance the movement of armed forces and boost economic and social development in Ladakh.

As the nation observes the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, families of the soldiers remember their loved ones who perished in the 1999 conflict between India and Pakistan.

Madhubala, widow of Kargil hero Vinod Kumar, reflected on her pride, having married him on May 18, 1997, and lost him on June 14, 1999.
