PHDCCI Hosts Regional Workshop on Competition Law and Intellectual Property Awareness in PHD House, Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, successfully organized a One-Day IP Awareness Programme under the National IP Outreach Mission at PHD House, Chandigarh. The event aimed to enhance awareness about intellectual property (IP) protection and its critical role in business growth, particularly for MSMEs, startups, and women entrepreneurs.

In her welcome address, Ms. Bharti Sood, Regional Director, PHDCCI, emphasized the strategic importance of IP in fostering innovation and securing business success. Sh. Sanjeev Chawla, Additional Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME, highlighted government schemes available for IP protection, underscoring IP’s value as a business asset.

The event featured insightful sessions led by industry experts, including Ms. Pooja Nayar, Chair, PHDCCI SHE Forum, who provided an overview of Intellectual Property Acts and Laws; Dr. Shweta Sen Thalwal, Founder, Integrum IP, who discussed the benefits of filing and registering IP; and Mr. Vinay Sharma, Principal and Product Owner, Iota Analytics, who elaborated on commercializing IP for competitive advantage. A special session on Startups and IP Protection was conducted by Dr. Ati Priye, CEO – Incubator & Startups, CGC Division of Research & Innovation.

A panel discussion on IPR for Women in Business: Protecting Innovation & Growth featured prominent women leaders who shared their perspectives on safeguarding business ideas and innovations. An IPR Helpdesk Camp, supported by the Ministry of MSME, provided on-the-spot solutions to queries from attendees.

Concurrently, the Regional Workshop on Competition Law was organized by the Punjab State Chapter & SHE Forum of PHDCCI in association with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), focused on fostering fair market practices.

Smt. Ravneet Kaur, Chairperson, CCI, in her keynote address, highlighted the role of competition law in preventing anti-competitive practices and ensuring market fairness. Technical sessions led by Sh. Deepak Anurag, Member, CCI, and Smt. Jyoti Jindgar Bhanot, Adviser (Economic), CCI, provided valuable insights into settlement mechanisms and compliance strategies.
