Jayaram and Kalidas Reunite On-Screen in Heartwarming Family Drama Ashakal Aayiram

Sree Gokulam Movies has unveiled the first look poster for Ashakal Aayiram, a much-anticipated family entertainer that brings together real-life father and son duo Jayaram and Kalidas Jayaram in a rare cinematic collaboration. Sharing the poster on X, the production house wrote, “The best ‘Boy Next Door’ is BACK — this time with his own boy!” The announcement instantly generated buzz, especially among fans nostalgic for classic family dramas from the golden era of Malayalam cinema.

Directed by G. Prajith and backed by producer Gokulam Gopalan, Ashakal Aayiram taps into the enduring emotional appeal of intergenerational bonds. Jayaram, known for his iconic roles in the 1990s in films like Meleparambil Aanveedu and Sandesham, returns to the genre that made him a household name. His son Kalidas, who won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist in 2003 for Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum, now shares the screen with his father in a full-fledged feature, marking a significant moment for Malayalam cinema and for fans of both actors.

The film promises to blend humor, sentiment, and the everyday charm that defines great family storytelling. With Jude Anthany Joseph on board as creative collaborator and support from a seasoned team including VC Praveen, Baiju Gopalan, and Badusha NM, the project is expected to strike the perfect balance between modern sensibilities and classic storytelling. The first look hints at a warm, relatable narrative centered on love, legacy, and the evolving dynamics of a father-son relationship.

While the release date is yet to be announced, Ashakal Aayiram is already positioned as a major upcoming release that could reinvigorate the family drama space in Malayalam cinema. With two generations of talent in front of the camera and a solid creative force behind it, the film has the potential to connect deeply with audiences across age groups, celebrating both nostalgia and new beginnings.
