Indian National Theatre to host ‘Varsha Ritu Sangeet Sandhya 2026’ on Aug-9

Indian National Theatre, in collaboration with Durga Das Foundation, will organise a classical music programme—Varsha Ritu Sangeet Sandhya 2026 on August 9 at the auditorium of Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh. The event celebrates the arrival of the monsoon season and pays homage to INT’s late patron, Shri Navjeevan Khosla.

Indian National Theatre President Anil Nehru and Honorary Secretary Vinita Gupta said that the musical evening will commence at 6:30 pm with Renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Bhuvanesh Komkali’s soulful and evocative performance.

Vinita Gupta stated that Bhuvanesh Komkali is a gifted young artist who belongs to the rich tradition of Indian classical music. He has inherited the musical legacy of his grandfather, the legendary Pandit Kumar Gandharva, and his father, Mukul Shivputra. He received his initial training from Smt. Vasundhara Komkali and eminent musician Shri Madhup Mudgal, and continues to refine his art under their guidance.

She added that through dedicated practice, self-study and rigorous training, Bhuvanesh Komkali is carrying forward the rich tradition of Hindustani classical music. Inspired by the musical philosophy and values of Pandit Kumar Gandharva, he beautifully blends the essence of various gharanas, folk traditions and contemporary musical elements, creating a unique and enriching experience for audiences.

Bhuvanesh Komkali is the Secretary of the Kumar Gandharva Pratishthan, Dewas, and has played a significant role in preserving Pandit Kumar Gandharva’s musical legacy through modern digital technology. He has also composed music for the Hindi feature film Devi Ahilya and for Kathak dance productions. His performances at prestigious music festivals across the country have earned wide appreciation from music connoisseurs and scholars alike. He has also been awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Bhuvanesh Komkali will be accompanied by Chetan Nigam Joshi on the harmonium and renowned tabla maestro Shambhunath Bhattacharya on the tabla.

Entry to Varsha Ritu Sangeet Sandhya 2026 will be free for all music lovers.
