Anathi Qolo will take charge of the Bulls Daisies, leading a significantly altered team

On Saturday, May 20th, the Bulls Daisies will travel to the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in Nelson Mandela Bay to play against the EP Queens. Following their second-round bye, Anathi Qolo will guide a significantly altered Bulls Daisies team as they resume their participation in the 2023 SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division competition.

On Saturday, May 20th, the Daisies will make a visit to the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in Nelson Mandela Bay to play against the EP Queens.

The round three clash is scheduled to kick off at 13:30 PM.

Mandisa Williams, the Assistant Coach, expressed that the entire team fully supports Qolo’s appointment as the interim captain. They believe in her leadership qualities and her past victories in the Eastern Cape.

“With Anathi as our captain, we are heading to Gqeberha. She will excel in this role because she has been the driving force of the team upfront. Having progressed through the ranks from under-18s to under-20s, she has demonstrated her capabilities. While she has never served as a captain before, we recognize her leadership qualities as she continues to develop within our setup.”

“It is crucial for us to combine the youth and experience to achieve the right balance, considering that we will often lose some of our players to national duties. Therefore, having a young captain and vice-captain this weekend is essential for building depth whenever we are without Lusanda or Libbie.”

Hayden Groepes’ team is currently missing 14 members who have been called up for national duty with the Springbok Women’s side, as they are set to travel to Madagascar.

Groepes expressed gratitude for having 14 Springboks in his squad and expressed hope for an increase in that number in the coming months. He stated, “We are thankful to have 14 Springboks in our team, and we hope to see that number grow in the near future. We truly support our players’ progress to reach the top.”

During this period when the Springboks are away, the squad has an opportunity to test its depth. Groepes added, “This is the time for a few players to step up and showcase their abilities. I am excited to see them in action because they have already demonstrated their readiness during training.”
