Allegations made by his family require investigation, Mayawati on Mukhtar Ansari’s death

Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, has called for a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Mukhtar Ansari’s family concerning his death while in jail. She emphasized the need for a high-level inquiry to uncover the truth surrounding his demise. In a statement shared on her social media platform, Mayawati expressed sympathy for Ansari’s family and urged them to find strength in this difficult time.

Following Mukhtar Ansari’s death from a cardiac arrest, his son, Umar Ansari, claimed that his father had been poisoned and vowed to seek legal recourse. Umar Ansari alleged that his family had not been informed about the situation by the authorities and had learned about it through the media. He stated their intention to approach the judiciary and expressed confidence in the legal process.

Umar Ansari revealed that his father had previously accused the authorities of administering poison to him. He mentioned plans for a post-mortem examination and expressed mistrust in the circumstances surrounding his father’s death. Additionally, he highlighted concerns about the medical treatment provided to Mukhtar Ansari while in custody.

The body of Mukhtar Ansari was taken to Banda Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, leaders from various political parties, including Samajwadi Party and Congress, have called for a thorough investigation into his death. They questioned the circumstances leading to his demise and demanded transparency in the investigation process.

Mukhtar Ansari, a former MLA, had a significant political influence in Ghazipur. He had faced legal troubles in the past, including convictions for murder and the use of forged documents. His death has sparked controversy and raised questions about the treatment of prisoners in Uttar Pradesh.

The official release from the hospital indicated that Mukhtar Ansari was brought in around 8:25 PM and received medical attention from a team of nine doctors before passing away. His death has reignited discussions about prison conditions and the handling of high-profile inmates in the state.
