Redapto Wins First Prize in Phase 1 of Gujarat Police’s Sentinel Hackathon 2026

Co-founders Anirudh Pupneja and Arnav Naresh Borkar recognised for AI platform supporting investigations and public safety

Redapto, led by co-founders Anirudh Pupneja, who hails from Bathinda and Arnav Naresh Borkar, has won first prize in Phase 1, Category 1, of the Gujarat Police Innovation Challenge 2026 — Sentinel Hackathon, receiving a ₹4 lakh award. The event took place on 12–13 October at i-Hub Gujarat in Ahmedabad. Category 1 covered small and medium startups and student teams.

The challenge drew participation from students, researchers, recognised startups and established technology companies across India. Organisers reported representation from 17 states and 30 major cities, with finalists selected from more than 1,000 submitted solutions.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, with Director General of Police Shri G. S. Malik addressed participants. Other senior attendees included Shri Mukesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher and Technical Education; Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Principal Secretary, Home; Shri Anupam Singh Gehlot, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner; and Shri Narsimha Komar, Vadodara Police Commissioner.

Built in response to the hackathon’s problem statement, Redapto’s platform combines CCTV integration and AI-assisted monitoring with investigative capabilities designed to help police trace suspects, identify links between separate crimes and connect evidence across incidents.

The platform also includes a digital twin — a digital representation of a monitored area using CCTV feeds — to support active monitoring and situational awareness. Its 3D crime-scene reconstruction capabilities use collected evidence to help investigators examine spatial relationships and assess possible sequences of events. Together, these tools aim to make fragmented footage and evidence easier to interpret.

The initiative reflects Gujarat’s effort to apply AI to practical policing needs. At the ceremony, Shri Harsh Sanghavi emphasised reducing routine workloads and saving police personnel’s working hours, while Shri G. S. Malik highlighted crime prevention and real-time alerts. The official DGP Gujarat account also highlighted the event on X.

The challenge now moves towards its Phase 2 Production Round, where selected teams will integrate solutions with real CCTV feeds at scale for evaluation by Gujarat Police leadership and a technical jury. This stage provides a pathway towards potential statewide deployment, supporting the initiative’s broader ambition to connect more than 80,000 cameras across Gujarat. Wider rollout remains subject to subsequent evaluation and selection.
