Raaj Kamal Films Unveils Second Single “Sugar Baby” from Thug Life

Raaj Kamal Films International has officially dropped the second single titled “Sugar Baby” from the much-anticipated gangster drama Thug Life, directed by the legendary Mani Ratnam. The song, composed by A.R. Rahman, has been released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, and features vocals by Nikhita Gandhi, Shuba, and Shashwat Singh, with Hindi lyrics penned by Mehboob. The track’s upbeat vibe and edgy sound have already started to trend across music platforms, teasing the film’s bold and contemporary tone.

Featuring Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan TR, and Trisha Krishnan, Thug Life is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on June 5, 2025, in IMAX. The film marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after 38 years, since their cult classic Nayakan. With music by A.R. Rahman and a screenplay co-written by Haasan and Ratnam, the film has already generated massive buzz for its pan-India appeal and star-studded cast, which includes Pankaj Tripathi, Sanya Malhotra, Ali Fazal, and others in their Tamil debut.

Interestingly, the title “Sugar Baby” has sparked a conversation online, as fans noted the contrast between the modern, Gen Z-style name and Mani Ratnam’s traditionally poetic and classical approach to filmmaking. Social media is abuzz with theories about the song’s role in the narrative, hinting it could introduce a glamorous or rebellious character, or perhaps highlight the film’s layered blend of style and substance. Either way, it’s already working as a high-energy hook to the film’s promotional rollout.

Adding to the excitement, the official audio launch of Thug Life is now confirmed for May 24, 2025, expected to be a grand event featuring live performances and appearances by the cast and crew. As the countdown to release begins, “Sugar Baby” serves as a fresh, bold beat in what promises to be a powerful cinematic symphony — blending legacy, rebellion, and rhythm in true Mani Ratnam–Kamal Haasan style.
