Johnston Mayor Joe Polisena Jr. reported that the police are investigating a triple shooting in Johnston Wednesday morning, and they have subsequently captured the suspect.
Polisena Jr. wrote on social media Wednesday, informing that he received information about a triple shooting in Johnston this morning. He further confirmed that the authorities have now apprehended the suspect, ensuring that the threat to the public has been eliminated.
According to the Johnston Fire Department, the incident occurred at 3 Ligian Court around 7:30 a.m. However, the Johnston Police Department has not disclosed any details regarding the incident.
The Mayor’s office refrained from providing specific details and stated that they will disclose additional information as it becomes accessible.
According to 12 News, Rhode Island State Police Col. Darnell Weaver stated that the suspect, identified by the mayor as James Harrison, sustained a gunshot wound near the Cranston/Johnston line.
The State Police and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office are actively participating in an investigation concerning an officer-involved shooting.
The shooting occurred around 7 a.m. on Ligian Court, as stated by Mayor Joseph Polisena Jr. The suspect, identified as James Harrison, was reported to have been shot and killed on Interstate 295 near the Johnston-Cranston line after leaving the Ligian Court shooting. Additionally, a fourth individual who was shot in Johnston was transported to the hospital.
According to the police, Harrison fled the scene after shooting three individuals during a “neighbor dispute.”
