A man, identified as S Sankaranarayanan from Tirumangalam, has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by the Madurai Mahila Court for carrying out an acid attack on two college girls in 2014 near their college in Tirumangalam. The victims, Meena and Angaleshwari, received treatment at Government Rajaji Hospital for burns amounting to 25 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
In light of the severity of the case and the physical and mental suffering endured by the victims, the court deemed it inappropriate to take a lenient stance in sentencing, emphasizing the need for a severe punishment. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on the convicted individual.
