ICSI Chandigarh Chapter Celebrates 49th Foundation Day

 

The Chandigarh Chapter of the Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) celebrated its 49th Foundation Day at Hotel Turquoise, Chandigarh, formally ushering in its prestigious Golden Jubilee Year.

Marking the milestone, the Chapter organised an insightful seminar on “Union Budget 2026: Corporate Governance, Regulatory Reforms and Business Impact.” The session provided a comprehensive overview of key policy measures and reform initiatives announced in the Union Budget 2026, along with their implications for the corporate sector. The deliberations underscored the evolving role of Company Secretaries in ensuring compliance, strengthening governance frameworks, and promoting sustainable business practices.

Jasmanpreet Singh, Deputy Mayor, Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he appreciated the significant contribution of Company Secretaries in strengthening corporate governance, promoting ethical business conduct, and facilitating effective implementation of regulatory reforms envisioned under the Union Budget 2026.

CS Suresh Kumar Pillay, Chairman of the Chandigarh Chapter, stated that as the Chapter steps into its Golden Jubilee Year, it renews its commitment to professional excellence, good governance, and nation-building. He emphasized that the reforms announced in the Union Budget 2026 present new opportunities and responsibilities for Company Secretaries to act as key enablers of transparent and compliant corporate ecosystems.

CS Shivani Goel, Secretary of the Chandigarh Chapter, highlighted the importance of continuous professional development and knowledge enhancement for members and students to keep pace with dynamic regulatory changes. She reiterated the Chapter’s focus on organizing capacity-building programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives throughout the Golden Jubilee Year.

CS Arjun Tyagi, Member, NIRC of ICSI, congratulated the Chandigarh Chapter on completing 49 glorious years of dedicated service and acknowledged its consistent efforts in nurturing professionals and contributing meaningfully to the country’s evolving corporate and regulatory landscape.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 115 members, professionals, and students, reflecting the Chapter’s enduring legacy and forward-looking approach as it embarks on its Golden Jubilee celebrations.
