Gurmeet Choudhary, Aarushi Nishank & Siddharth Nigam Gear Up for a War Epic

The Battle of Shatrughat Begins Filming: Gurmeet Choudhary, Aarushi Nishank And Siddharth Nigam Gear Up for a War Epic

Blood. Honor. Destiny. With these three powerful words, filming has officially commenced for The Battle of Shatrughat — a new war drama that promises to bring epic storytelling and historical grandeur to the big screen. Directed by Shahid Kazmi, the film unites an eclectic cast of seasoned actors and fresh faces, with a story rooted in valor and sacrifice.

Leading the charge is Gurmeet Choudhary, whose strong screen presence and history with mythological roles (Ramayan) make him a perfect fit for a film of this scale. Joining him are Aarushi Nishank, blending glamour and grit, and Siddharth Nigam, the former child prodigy (Dhoom 3, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat) now taking center stage in big-screen action.

Backing this ensemble is a powerhouse lineup of veterans: Mahesh Manjrekar, Raza Murad, Zarina Wahab, and Mir Sarwar, each bringing depth and gravitas to what’s expected to be a high-stakes period drama. With Shahid Kazmi Films, PY Media, and Hill Crest Motions producing — and Tushar Vaishnav co-producing — all signs point to a production mounted on a grand cinematic canvas.

The story, written by Shahid Kazmi and Sajad Khaki, is still shrouded in secrecy — but the title hints at either a historical battle from Indian lore or an imagined conflict echoing real-world wars, likely infused with political intrigue and moral complexity. Given Kazmi’s past work in socially resonant cinema, we can expect this to be more than just swords and spectacle.

Costume designer Darshan Jalan is on board for styling, while Era of Kabir will score the music — a detail that suggests the film will blend raw period realism with an aesthetic flourish, not unlike recent hits like Kesari or Tanhaji.

Whether it’s mythology, medieval warfare, or modern-day metaphor wrapped in period garb, The Battle of Shatrughat has set the stage for what could be one of the most ambitious war dramas of 2025.
