Fire Safety & Security measures important in Buildings: Experts
Chandigarh Chapter of Fire & Security Association of India (FSAI) and PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry had organised an exhibition and seminar at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh today. It is an annual event titled India Fire & Security Yatra (IFSY) covering 24 cities in India. It consists of lectures and panel discussions besides an exhibition to display products, materials and technologies related to fire & security sector. It was done in collaboration with Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) and Indian Plumbing Association (IPA). Aneel Singh Duggal, President Chandigarh Chapter of Ishrae delivered the welcome address. Chandigarh Mayor, Anup Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the efforts of FSAI for creating awareness and sharing knowledge through experts about Fire Safety and Security. Surinder Bahga, President of FSAI, Chandigarh Chapter said, “It is pertinent to mention here that Fire & Security Association is a non-profit organisation established in 2002 representing Fire Protection, Life Safety, Security, Building automation, Loss prevention and risk management domains”. Manujit Khurana, Professor, UIA, Chandigarh University has delivered a talk on “Emerging Technology in fire suppression exploring the latest innovations. Rajnish Aggarwal, fire safety expert from Delhi has delivered a talk on “Ventilation & Smoke Management”. Sahil Kansal, President, Indian Plumbing Association has delivered a talk on “Nerves of a building” In the panel discussion on Fire Safety and Security Rajan Mittal, Secretary, FSAI Chandigarh Chapter; BS Sandhu, Fire Adviser to Punjab; PS Saini, Head, Engineering, PGI; Swati Behl, Principal, University Institute of Architecture, Chandigarh University and Ajitesh Prashar, RSM Noth from Ravel Electronics Pvt Ltd. took part. Prof Geetanjali Kapoor moderated the session. Ajay Bansal, National chair of Ishrae and Prof Deepika Sharma from Amity University also spoke on the occasion. FSAI had established Student Chapters at Chitkara University, Lovely Professional University and Chandigarh University and Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. These universities gave presentations about fire safety measures adopted in their own campuses and other activities carried on by these students chapters. 2 Program was attended by more than 150 professionals including architects, engineers, builders, consultants and students etc.
