Delhi: Woman killed, husband stabbed over water dispute

.

New Delhi, April 26 (MondayMirror.com) A 45-year-old woman died after her throat was slit and her husband received stab injuries during a fight with their neighbour over filling up water from a tap outside their house in the national capital on Tuesday morning, an official said.

The deceased was identified as Shyamkala, a resident of Dalit Ekta Camp in the Vasant Kunj area of southwest Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Manoj C said a call was received at Vasant Kunj police station around 7 a.m. stating that a Nepali had killed a woman in the said area.

“The police immediately responded and reached the scene of the crime where they found the woman’s body lying outside her house,” the DCP said.

Shyamkala’s husband Ramesh Kumar, who sustained injuries in the incident, was immediately rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where he is under treatment.

The body of the deceased woman has been shifted to mortuary, Safdarjung Hospital for Forensic Autopsy.

The senior official said that the preliminary inquiry has revealed that the deceased and the injured had a quarrel with their neighbours.

When asked if the fight was over filling up water, the DCP told IANS that they are still verifying it. “But definitely there was an argument and they were neighbours,” he said.

The son of the deceased woman alleged that the neighbour, who killed his mother, is already a criminal and an addict. “He is a native of Nepal. Even his brother is in jail,” the son told media persons.

The police have identified the prime suspect as Arjun, the neighbour, who is absconding after allegedly committing the offence.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code at the Vasant Kunj (north) police station.

A special team of southwest district police has been constituted to nab the accused.
