“Confident that PoK will itself merge with India”: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that inhabitants of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are expressing their desire for integration with India, indicating a confidence that this merger will materialize. These comments were made during the ‘AAP ki Adalat’ program aired on India TV. Responding to recent statements by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding Kashmir, Rajnath Singh questioned Pakistan’s ability to seize Kashmir and instead suggested that they focus on addressing issues within PoK. He highlighted a prediction made approximately one and a half years prior, suggesting that military intervention might not be necessary as the situation in PoK is evolving towards self-initiated integration with India.

Earlier in February, political activist Amjad Ayub Mirza from PoK claimed that residents are disillusioned with Pakistani governance and are seeking to join India. According to Mirza, recent elections in Pakistan resulted in a fragmented mandate, prompting PoK residents to voice their desire for merger with India, citing their official citizenship status.

Regarding potential threats from China, Rajnath Singh emphasized India’s stance of non-aggression while maintaining readiness to defend its sovereignty. He expressed confidence in India’s ability to address any challenges posed by China and highlighted India’s growing strength on the global stage.

Addressing allegations by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi concerning Chinese encroachment on Indian territory, Rajnath Singh expressed disappointment and declined to delve into past conflicts, instead focusing on ongoing diplomatic talks between India and China. He commended the bravery of Indian armed forces and highlighted their restraint during confrontations with China, particularly citing the Galwan Valley clash where Indian soldiers engaged in physical combat without firing a single shot.

Rajnath Singh acknowledged China’s extensive infrastructure development along the Line of Control and contrasted the previous Congress government’s cautious approach with the current government’s proactive stance on border infrastructure development.

Refuting claims of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s apprehension towards China, Rajnath Singh affirmed Modi’s resolute nature and criticized those who question India’s strength and valor. He underscored the importance of recognizing India’s capabilities and refraining from undermining its resolve.
