Capital Strikers and Chandigarh Kings keep winning streaks in CPL

Chandigarh, Capital Strikers continued their winning momentum in the Chandigarh Premier League T20 being organised by UT Cricket Association notching up a 29-run victory over Dr Morepen Dazzlers at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Opting to field after winning the toss, Dr Morepen Dazzlers restricted the Strikers early on but were undone by fiery cameos from Amrit Lubana (40 off 28) and Arjit Singh (40 off 20), who propelled the side to 167/9 in 20 overs. Late fireworks from Karan Kaila (20 off 8) further lift the team’s spirit. Among the Dazzlers’ bowlers, Hartejassvii Kapoor (4/30) was the standout with a four-wicket haul.

In reply, Dazzlers faltered despite a fighting knock of 46 from Aayush Sikka who was well supported by Nikhil Kumar (25) and Bhagmender Lather (24). Skipper Rajangad Bawa (4/23) ripped through the middle order and restricted the Dazzlers to 138/8 in their allotted overs.

Later in the day, Chandigarh Kings continued their dominant run with a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Altruistian. Opting to bat first, Altruistian were restricted to 136 in their allotted 20 overs, despite a valiant knock from Gurtaj Singh Bains who top-scored with a blistering 65 off 37 balls studded with six boundaries and four sixes. The Kings’ bowlers kept a tight leash with Rohit Dhanda (3/20), Raman Bishnoi (3/29) and Nishunk Birla (1/16) to derail Altruistian’s innings.

In reply, Chandigarh Kings showcased their depth in batting with Sanyam Saini leading the charge with an unbeaten 49 off just 28 balls who was supported by unbeaten Kunal Mahajan’s quickfire 28. The Kings chased down the target comfortably in 18.1 overs, finishing at 139/4.

For Altruistian, Harshit Singh (2/32) was the top wicket taker.

Panchkula Bashers will take on Talanoa Tigers followed by Capital Strikers facing Altruistian later in the day on Monday.
