In this direction, a recent High Power Purchase Committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister approved projects worth approximately Rs.56 crore to accelerate development in Ambala Cantonment—specifically for strengthening infrastructure in the power sector and constructing facilities to enhance healthcare services for residents.
Providing more details, Sh. Vij said that a 100-bedded hospital is under construction in Ambala Cantonment, and to expedite its completion, the High Power Purchase Committee approved a budget of Rs.17 crore. This will ensure that residents of Ambala Cantonment have access to modern healthcare facilities.
He explained that the hospital will have a total of seven floors, including a ground floor, two basements and four upper floors. A critical care unit will be established in the hospital, along with an emergency ward for immediate treatment of patients. An MGPS plant room will be set up in the upper basement. The ground floor will house a care lab, X-ray room, centralized nursing area, nursing station and other facilities.
Similarly, the first floor will feature a central nursing station in the large ward, doctor’s room, nurse’s room, procedure room, AHU-equipped ward, LDR/multi-purpose diagnostic area, storage space for equipment and sanitation facilities. On the second floor, isolation rooms with negative pressure for infected patients and a small nursing station will be available. The non-infectious section will include super-specialty wards, a central nursing station, equipment storage space, utility areas and a burn ward with positive pressure rooms, body washing area, nursing station, toilets and small changing rooms for staff.
The third floor will include ICU/HDU units with a central nursing station, equipment storage, sanitation facilities, provision of dialysis with RO points in ICU, treatment room, nurse duty room, waiting area and a counseling cabin. The fourth floor will feature super-specialty operation theatres and changing rooms covering the entire OT complex.
The Energy Minister also informed that to ensure uninterrupted 24-hour high-quality power supply in Ambala Cantonment, Rs. 38.78 crore has been sanctioned by the High Power Purchase Committee. This will be used to strengthen the energy infrastructure in the area.
Under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), works worth Rs.38.78 crore will be carried out in Ambala Cantonment. These include replacing 232 circuit K.M. of bare LT conductor with various sizes of LT armored XLPE cable, splitting/upgrading 77 circuit K.M. of existing 11kV lines using new ACSR conductors/XLPE cable, and extending 127 distribution transformers.
