Arjun Rampal as Imroz Breaks Stereotypes, Says ‘Bandish Bandits’ Director

Director Anand Tiwari of Bandish Bandits has shared insights about Arjun Rampal’s portrayal of Imroz Dehelvi, a charming poet whose surprise cameo has won audience appreciation. Tiwari highlighted that Rampal’s role challenges conventional depictions of poets on screen.

He explained, “We often associate poets with a particular image—dressed in kurta-pajamas, barefoot, and carrying a bag. But poets can come from any background, even a music school. I wanted Imroz to defy expectations, and Arjun Rampal as the poet certainly breaks the stereotype.”

Tiwari praised Rampal for taking on the role, describing him as a close friend who agreed without much knowledge about the part. “Arjun’s depth, gravitas, and sense of security, which I’ve admired in his films and experienced while working with him on Nail Polish, made him the perfect choice for Imroz,” he added.

The director also reflected on the chemistry between Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta, who plays Nandini. “Their understated yet magnetic dynamic, first seen in Dhaakad, felt tailor-made for this series. The connection between Imroz and Nandini thrives on unspoken emotions, creating a mature and profound bond. Small exchanges carry layered meanings, reflecting the beauty of their relationship.”

The second season of Bandish Bandits features Ritwik Bhowmik, Shreya Chaudhry, Sheeba Chaddha, Atul Kulkarni, Rajesh Tailang, and Kunaal Roy Kapur, alongside new cast members Divya Dutta, Rohan Gurbaxani, Yashaswini Dayama, Aaliyah Qureshi, and Saurabh Nayyar. Created by Amritpal Singh Bindra and Anand Tiwari, the new season is now streaming.
