Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament set for grand opening on Friday, Players received jerseys

 

Chandigarh: The stage is set for the much-anticipated Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament, being jointly organised by the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) and Chandigarh Police. The tournament will be formally inaugurated by  Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini  and  UT Administration Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad in the presence of  Tournament Chairman Sanjay Tandon and DIG Chandigarh Police Dr Sagar Preet Hooda, along with other officials from Chandigarh Police and UTCA on Friday at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.

Meanwhile, players have been receiving jerseys and kits through their respective police stations. Notably, team registrations were conducted based on the nearest police stations, ensuring strong community participation and local engagement. A total of 288 teams will compete in the tournament, including 256 boys’ teams and 32 girls’ teams.

Adding to the excitement, a series of exhibition matches will be held over the weekend on the sidelines of the tournament. In the first match, Media XI will take on Artists XI followed by a clash between Chief Secretary XI and DGP XI on Saturday.  A special match featuring specially-abled children will also be organised, where they will showcase their cricketing talent. Jerseys and kits distributed to them as well, highlighting the inclusive spirit of the tournament.
