Aamir Khan Joins Rajinikanth in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie as ‘Dahaa’

Sun Pictures has unveiled the first look poster and character reveal of Aamir Khan from the highly anticipated Tamil action thriller Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The X post introduced Aamir as Dahaa, a powerful new character in the film’s universe, marking his first appearance alongside superstar Rajinikanth in three decades. This surprise cameo has electrified fans across the globe, especially with Coolie slated for a grand IMAX release on August 14, 2025.

The reveal is a major promotional beat for Coolie, which already commands massive anticipation as Rajinikanth’s 171st lead role. Aamir’s inclusion adds significant Bollywood heft to an already packed ensemble, which features Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and more. The casting not only bridges industries but also generations, reigniting memories of Aatank Hi Aatank (1995), the last collaboration between Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, Coolie is an ambitious project with international scale and local soul. Cinematography is handled by Girish Gangadharan, with editing by Philomin Raj and music by Anirudh Ravichander — a trio known for bringing gritty realism and pulse-pounding energy to the screen. Action choreography by Anbariv, combined with global shooting locations, hints at a high-octane spectacle rooted in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s signature cinematic universe.

With its global release planned across IMAX, D-Box, EPIQ, and standard formats, Coolie positions itself as one of India’s biggest cinematic events of 2025. Aamir Khan’s entry as Dahaa adds intrigue and scale to the storyline, signaling a larger narrative canvas than previously imagined. As the countdown to August 14 begins, all eyes are now on Coolie — a film poised to redefine pan-Indian blockbusters.
