According to a report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Haryana Election Watch, 93% (81 out of 87) of the sitting MLAs in the Haryana Legislative Assembly are crorepatis.
The report, which examines the criminal, financial, and other background details of these MLAs, also highlights that 12 MLAs are facing criminal cases, with 6 of them facing serious criminal charges.
The report further specifies the distribution of criminal cases across party lines: 7% of the BJP’s 41 MLAs, 14% of the INC’s 29 MLAs, 10% of the Jannayak Janta Party’s 10 MLAs, along with 1 MLA each from the INLD and Haryana Lokhit Party, and 40% of the Independent MLAs have declared criminal cases in their affidavits.

Of the 6 MLAs facing serious charges, 4 belong to the INC, while 1 MLA each from the Haryana Lokhit Party and Independent category also face serious charges.
When it comes to assets, the report reveals that 81 MLAs possess assets worth more than ₹1 crore.
The breakdown of crorepatis by party shows that 93% of the BJP’s MLAs, 93% of the INC’s, 100% of the Jannayak Janta Party’s, INLD’s, and Haryana Lokhit Party’s MLAs, and 80% of Independent MLAs have declared such wealth.
Elections in Haryana will be conducted on October 5, and the vote count will take place on October 8, following the Election Commission of India’s decision to move the polling date from October 1 to October 5, and the vote counting from October 4 to October 8.
