49 Opposition MPs Suspended, Total Parliamentarian Suspensions Reach 141:- Forty-nine opposition MPs, including prominent figures like Farooq Abdullah and Shashi Tharoor, have been suspended from Lok Sabha for the remainder of the winter session. This follows the suspension of 33 MPs the previous day.
The total number of opposition parliamentarians suspended from both Houses now stands at 141.
The suspensions are a response to disruptions caused by opposition members demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the Parliament security breach on December 13.
The winter session is scheduled to conclude on December 22, with a total of 92 members barred from entering Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha chambers due to the suspensions.
The motion for suspension was presented by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal, citing rule violations and disrespect toward the Chair by opposition members.
